Public Holiday in Bahrain 2017 -Private sector workers in Bahrain can expect at least 13 public holidays in 2017.  Those working in the public sector can expect more days off. All federal ministries, public departments and institutions will be closed on the following holidays. All public holidays are paid. If holiday falls on week end then employees have chances to get lieu off on next or prior working days

January 1 – New Year’s Day: New Year’s Day is fixed on January 1 to celebrate the dawn of the new Christ year.

May 1 –May day – celebrated in many countries as a traditional springtime festival or as an international day honoring workers. Employees in Bahrain may have chances to get public holiday

July 7 – Eid Al Fitr: festival of breaking the fast. The holiday is a celebration which marks the end of Ramadan. Eid Al Fitr begins automatically after the last day of Ramadan, first day of Shawwal. In 2016 it is predicted to begin on Thursday July 7.Employers can expect 3 days holiday

September 11 Eid al Adha : Holiday include Arafat Day and Eid al adha. Arafa day is the second day of the annual hajj. The holiday takes place the day before the start of Eid Al Adha.Employers can expect 3 days holiday

October 2 – Al Hijri – Islamic New Year: Expected to fall on Sunday October 2 , it is likely that workers in Bahrain will enjoy a long weekend.

October 10&11 – ashura and tasua: Expected to fall on Monday and Tuesday October 10&11 in 2016, it is likely that workers in Bahrain will enjoy a long weekend. Ashura is Sunnah, It comes from Moses(AS) Fasting to thank Allah (SWT) for saving the Israelites from the Pharaoh. Ashura is the 10th day of Muharram. Tasua is the 9th day of Muharram it is sunnah to fast both

December 12 – Prophet Mohammad SAW Birthday: It will celebrate on the 12th day of Rabi Al Awwal. In Arabic, the holiday is referred to as Eid Al Mawlid an Nabawi.

December 16 Bahrain National Day : Bahrain Independence Day was on 16 December 1971, declaring independence from the British following a UN survey of the Bahraini population. The British announced the withdrawal of their troops east of Suez in the early 1960s.
